Frequently Asked Questions about
Surprise Arizona Real Estate and Homes For Sale
Is Surprise primarily a retirement community?
Surprise has a healthy mix of all ages. As of 2004, 45% of the population of Surprise was over 65, but this percentage has most likely decreased in the last few years given the large number of new developments for all ages. But Surprise continues to welcome and embrace the over-55s, especially at one of the biggest communities in Surprise, Sun City West.
I heard Luke Air Force Base is near Surprise. Is it noisy?
Luke Air Force base is at least 5 miles away from most of Surprise, and most of Surprise is well removed from the high noise areas of the Luke runways. Of course the amount of noise each individual can tolerate varies, so before you buy real estate in Surprise, you may want to spend some time outside (perhaps at the Surprise City Park) to determine if the noise level is excessive for you. Many residents actually enjoy watching the occasional sight of fighter jets flying in formation overhead.
As your Surprise real estate agent, I’ll make sure you have a Surprise/Luke Notification map. You can also go to the Surprise web site to print one out yourself: http://www.surpriseaz.com/index.asp?NID=197
What can I do in Surprise?
Go swimming in the community pool. Watch Major League Baseball spring training. Climb a mountain at the nearby White Tank Mountain Regional Park. Visit the Wildlife World Zoo (technically in Litchfield Park, but close enough to Surprise). Play golf. Shop for Surprise Real Estate. Enjoy the great winter weather!
